Positioning My Heart

The morning that the election results were released, I immediately felt led to pray. I felt a heaviness in my heart but mostly for the people that I knew I would encounter throughout my day. I felt the Lord leading me to pray about positioning. I knew that I would need to personally be in a position to be able to support individuals throughout the day. I prayed for an extra dose of strength but also wisdom and understanding beyond my own.

I felt this was important to share because we are human. There are many times when we are dealing with things in our own lives that sometimes prevent us from being in the best condition to help or support others or even be able to do the work that God is calling us to. I prayed that the Lord would help me adjust my heart's position.
The night prior when going to bed, and if I’m honest for the two weeks leading up to this day, I had sort of been coasting. But the morning when I woke up to the messages, I immediately knew that I was not in the correct position to take on the work that was coming my way for the day. I also prayed that moving forward it wouldn’t take this kind of jolt in society for me to make the necessary adjustments but rather that I would be sensitive enough to God’s leading to know how to immediately adjust so that God can use me to further his work in the Kingdom.
That is why I advocate for earnest and honest prayers. Because, if I wasn’t able to be honest with God about how I was feeling, He wouldn’t have been able to lead me to make the adjustment, to correct my position.
So, just in case no one tells you this (this week in particular), it is OK to be honest with God about how you feel today and every day. Being honest about how you are feeling won’t discredit or discount your faith.
If you are struggling in this area, here is a prayer for you.
Lord, my friends and I are having some big feelings today. Many of us are struggling to make sense of what we are feeling. We are anxious, scared, distracted, confused, concerned and or angry. Help us to find peace in small ways. Show us your love and calm our fears and anxieties. Give us a special dispensation of your peace that we might feel loved and protected by you always.
Amen.
My gift for you is journal prompts to get you started with having an honest conversation with God.
